10:44 pm - An Egyptology Blog

tiye
I've just created a new blog on wordpress.com for the purpose of a) sharing my experiences as an Egyptology student and b) helping to provide information and resources to others who are interested in following this path. Come check it out at http://seshnedjem.wordpress.com/ .

Cross-posted to a bunch of Egyptology groups.

Ok people... did any of you wach the "Nefertiiti Resurected"? Well, do you think there are any reasons why they would go into her tomb and cut the 'enterance' to the afterworld (her mouth) other than she had allot of power?

anyway.. totolly irrelivant to the point, I have been being left out by my friends and she wont talk to me because "I have bad vibes", doesanyone know what to do? Anyway.. sorry about being random about my problems.. but it depresses me

6:10 pm - Hi!

tiye
Just wanted to introduce myself . . . I just graduated from Penn State with a BA in Classics, but my main focus is Egyptology. I'm a huge fan of the Amarna period, although I also love the early Middle Kingdom. I've recently been to Egypt, and dream constantly of returning, although the prospects for doing that any time soon are bad. Stupid war . . . Anyway, I have a website about Akhenaten here:

Okay, cool. The first entry. I changed the name from sorrowfuldreams to the Field of Reeds because it's more fitting. Besides, the last community was kind of a dud anyway. Guess I'll try to see if I can spark this one a little bit more.
=D

This journal was created in conjunction with The Field of Reeds website as an alternative to using the chat room or message board which I admit are a bit bland. They'll have to stay that way until I upgrade the site and learn more about Java to design my own chatroom, etc.

In case you didn't catch what this community is for last time around in the other community, here it is:

This is all about Ancient Egypt (or modern if you wish). The name refers to the Ancient Egyptian afterlife. There were two places to go, both mentioned in the Book of the Dead, one was the Field of Peace, the other the Field of Reeds. I liked the sound of the Field of Reeds better, so that's what stuck.

Poetry, links, pictures, stories, debates, etc. is just fine as long as it's directly or indirectly linked with Egypt. Since these guys have been dead for over 2000 years I realize it's hard to come up with anything new or unique about them.. but it's okay, we don't mind if you post something well known.

Last time I started off with Akhenaten. But everyone knows about him. So let's swing a different way. Hm hm. Shall we debate? I guess we could start off with something generalized and then gradually turn them into more specialized topics. So okay. Um hm. What do you think about the Mummy Trilogy? Fact or fiction?
